PROGRESS THROUGH THE CLUB SESSIONS etc
current programme, testing and progression
Programme
We follow the ASA’s guideline for teaching swimming designated as NPTS (National Plan for teaching Swimming)
It is split up into 12 levels and each level has a number of aims around SKILL DEVELOPMENT and STROKE DEVELOPMENT
GASC operate teaching stations that sometimes cover 2 levels.
The club has split up the training into 12/13 week programme with designated focuses on each of the weeks

Current 12 week programmes: Jewels plan - Potters plan
Testing
We follow the ASA’s guideline on testing. During a 12 week programme the swimmer is tested twice.
Progression
To pass the test the swimmer should successfully complete 8 of the 10 elements in the assessment sheet
Its only when the swimmer has successfully completed all the levels at the teaching station will the swimmer progress to the next teaching station
Appeal
If swimmers/parents have any concern with the levels/progression etc they should first take it up with the station teacher, then the head teacher (me) and then the committee via the Chair. This is the normal procedure for appeals that is taken from ASA guidelines.
We welcome comments and suggestions on improvements and this can be brought up at the next teachers meeting or committee meeting. Please address your suggestions via the chair.
