G.A.S.C. is a swimming club whose primary object is to provide training and development up and including competitive swimming. For those seeking competitions there are several levels from local friendly galas right up to District level.
Membership of the club is available for anyone 5 or over or to candidates who are 4 and over and who have got a certificate to prove they have completed National Plan for Swimming Level 1 and 2 (see Potters section for details).
Anyone interested in joining the club must contact the Membership Secretary - Liz Kearslake - email: hattyhonda@aol.com . Liz will then advise you of which session(s) to attend first so that an assessment can be carried out by one of the club coaches.
The function of the Committee is to provide the administration back-up to ensure that training, development and competitions takes place in a safe structured and enjoyable environment. The Committee is also responsible for providing transport to away galas if necessary, and to organise overseas visits to clubs on an exchange basis to give our swimmers the opportunity to compete against swimmers in other countries.
There is a Club Notice board at Glossop and New Mills pool which you should check regularly for gala details and other information.
Hopefully, this has made matters a little clearer to you with regard to the swimming set up in GASC. Whilst we tried to cover most of the things you will want to know, it is impossible to cover absolutely everything, so do not be afraid to ask.

Terms and Conditions of Monthly/Yearly Fee (Year Runs from 1/2/2010 to 31/1/2011)
A monthly fee swimmer is entitled to attend all appropriate sessions (Squad/Jewels 4 per week, New Mills/Potters 2 per week).
If a swimmer changes from one group to another within a month the change in fees do not apply until the 1st of the month following the move.
Payment is to be made within 7 days of the month by Standing Order only. No payment after that = no swim
No addition to Annual Membership will be required during the year if a swimmer moves from one group to another unless a swimmer wishes to compete in ‘ASA Open Competitions’ then an additional fee will be required.
At least 1 months written notice period is required to switch from monthly payments to daily pay. A swimmer will not be allowed to swim at a ‘Daily Pay’ rate until all outstanding monthly fees have been paid
In the case of a swimmer being injured or other family hardships please inform in writing the GASC committee who will consider all reasonable requests sympathetically, however no refunds for that current month can be provided.
GASC reserve the right to remove membership in cases of breach of rules with no refund on that months payment.
If some of the 46 weeks per year sessions become unavailable (Pool problems etc,) the GASC committee will consider refund/carry over to 2010 an apportionment amount of money to those swimmers who turned up and signed in for those sessions. Please write to the Chair of Glossop ASC to ask for such refund if required.
Gala entry fees are not covered by monthly/yearly membership (entry into Pointscore competition is covered)
